When you think about Stretch Marks, what do you think of first? Which aspects of Stretch Marks are important, which are essential, and which ones can you take or leave? You be the judge.
There are many people who are okay with their stretch marks as soon as they fade away to near invisibility. There is makeup that can cover up stretch marks as well if you look for it. You can also go with laser therapy, if you want a more permanent solution to your problem. Your surgeon will need to know what color your stretch marks are, so he or she can pick the right laser. There are lasers that will stimulate your pigment production cells, and some that make your marks less colorful.
Yet another type of laser therapy promotes the production of collagen which will increase the elasticity in the stretch marks, helping them to decrease in size. Stretch marks are caused when the skins elasticity is stretched beyond its limits. This usually happens when a person grows to rapidly, like during puberty. Other times which people grow to fast is during rapid weight gains, like during pregnancy. It is the dermis, the skin’s middle layer, that sustains the damage during these rapid growth periods. (You actually have three layers of skin: the epidermis, which is the outer most layer; the dermis, which is the middle layer; and the subcutaneous layer, which is the innermost layer.)
Some people choose to use blue light therapy for their treatments. This treatment is also useful when fighting acne problems. This therapy removes stretch marks using a combination of gel and light.
People who prefer time tested treatments, there is always the option of using creams that help to restore moisture in the skin, repair collagen, and promote elastin growth. These creams typically contain ingredients like cocoa butter, wheat germ oil, lanolin, and/or vitamin E. It is important to note that if you plan on simply using these creams, they are most effective during the time that your skin is being stretched. The creams can help keep you skin soft, supple, smooth, and elastic. With this in mind, if you are going through a time that you are susceptible to getting stretch marks, think about prevention. If it is too late to prevent stretch marks, you will want to start using creams as soon as possible after they have already developed.
While there is no treatment that will be 100 percent effective in treating or getting rid of stretch marks, but when you use a combination of some of the techniques and therapies listed in this article, you should be able to greatly reduce how much your stretch marks stand out or completely get rid of them.
