Nutritionalists work on a person’s Body Mass Index when analysing weight questions. Our reading should come in somewhere in the region of top teens to mid-twenties. An index greater than that reveals we have weight issues that could need dealing with. Furthermore we’re defined as obese and morbidly obese respectively if we rise above first thirty and then forty.

It’s very easy to determine what your BMI is: Take your height in metres and your weight in kilos. Multiply your height by itself and then divide your weight by the answer.

For example if your height is 1.6 metres and your weight is 78 kilos, your BMI is 30.47 (1.6 x 1.6 = 2.56 then 78 / 2.56 = 30.47). These figures state categorically that you fall into the obesity category. Medical advice would definitely suggest a change of diet and activity is needed.

None of us can reduce our weight if we carry on doing the same things that put the weight on in the first place. We can lower our fat reserves (and therefore our weight) if we trim down our portion sizes and stick to more natural foodstuffs.

Stay away from eating programs that sound too good to be true! They’re usually so restrictive and unsatisfactory that you can’t maintain them for long. Any slimming regime that only allows one and a half thousand calories a day is considered a crash diet. Programs like this tend to have a yo-yo effect on weight - it comes off quickly, then goes straight back on again when you inevitably stop.

Manageable healthy fat loss can’t be done in a couple of weeks. If you reduce your calorific intake by a fifth, there’s a good chance you’ll take off up to a couple of pounds a week. Although this won’t bring instant gratification, it should go some way to addressing your longer-term health issues.

Fatty foods tend to give us the biggest problem with weight management. Lower your intake of saturated fat then, and you achieve a noticeable reduction in calories. In its place eat more fresh vegetables and fruit. To fill up, try eating more wholemeal and grain. It won’t take long before you notice you’re actually feeling better.

Avoid skipping meals - this really doesn’t help with calorie reduction. You’re likely to get too hungry, and then grab a calorie-rich snack! Really, you’ll do yourself more favours if you have four or five little meals spread throughout the day. Starving yourself actually makes it more difficult to lose weight. It’s much easier for the body to process food and dispel fat when it’s receiving regular high quality/low quantity food.

Who cares what one wears in a yoga class these days? When practicing at home, one can always wear his/her sleeping cloths that are bulky.

Practicing outside of the house is different. A lot of factors have to be considered in choosing the right yoga cloths. Here are some tips to make you look like a professional.

Street clothes that we wear everyday may way between seven to fifteen pounds. Now, just imagine putting them on and practicing yoga. You would not want to carry heavy clothing, while moving around with it.

The best clothes you will wear in doing yoga are those made of light cloth. You might have neglected this point but choosing the wrong attire could affect your yoga exercises. It makes you lazy.

Buying new clothes for your yoga is impractical. Just go find the lightest t-shirt and shorts you have at home. Don’t choose that heavy cotton shirts because when you will be sweating while doing the exercise, it will absorb more sweat than to light shirts. Avoid wearing jeans also, it maybe long or short. They are hard and not stretchy.

Most of the time you will be either on foot or in sleepers. If one prefers sleepers, secure the size. Flip-flops are not allowed.

Practicing yoga is already difficult alone without the problems of what shoes to wear. In choosing the right pair of shoes, one has to prioritize safety before comfort. If no shoes fit, then one can always go on foot.

Bottom-line is that whatever one wears, it has to fit well, and must easily be carried and expandable to allow body movement comfortably. Once you have chosen the right clothes based on the description, then you are ready to start preparing for the class.

People with eyesight problems are looking for natural ways to correct their vision. Laser surgery has turned out to have more risks than was previously understood, so it turns out it isn’t the miracle vision correction that people thought it would be.

The fact is, more often than not, glasses cause problems. They can actually make vision worse rather than fix it!

More people are willing to do some research and try to find natural ways to improve their faulty eyesight. They are less willing to hear that they need to wear glasses for the rest of their lives or else risk their vision to potentially dangerous laser surgery.

People are generally very pleasantly surprised to find that there are in fact safe, natural ways to correct and improve vision. You can eat carefully, for starters.

Rabbits can see in the dark, did you know that? It’s from all the carrots that they eat. Carrots are rich in beta carotene, which improves vision and especially night vision.

Foods that are rich in essential fatty acids are also very beneficial to vision. You can have luck with oily fish, or with berries. Herbs such as ginkgo biloba can also be very helpful where the eyesight problems result from circulatory problems. Don’t take this herb, however, if you are also taking aspirin or any type of blood thinner.

You can also start eye exercises and these can be most valuable for strengthening your vision. Over time they can improve your sight. There are two that come immediately to mind. The first is called the Bates eye exercise method. It’s safe and effective. The second is pinhole glasses eye exercises. That’s just a matter of buying and wearing pinhole glasses. They automatically exercise your eyes while you wear them.

Either of these methods are useful, safe, effective, and inexpensive. You can achieve natural vision correction with either.
